Apple Macintosh SE/30, circa 1988

Apple Macintosh SE/30, circa 1988, Screen Shot, Mac OS 6

Apple Macintosh SE/30. (1989)

This MAC had a run of about 1 1/2 years. Durable and a workhorse. It dazzled the crowds with its "1 piece" design, having the CPU and Black & White monitor housed together. It was a favorite for modifications and upgrades by it's owners. Using a SCSI interface, you could upgrade the hard drive easily to a larger capacity. To this day, it is very useful to run a small FTP or E-Mail server using Netpresenz. A fine example of APPLE innovation. MAC SE/30 Specifications

This computer was one of the best designed PC's ever made. Way ahead of its time. It was supposed to revolutionize the PC industry and allow IBM to take the lead in PC sales again after IBM designed and released the IBM 5150 PC in 1980. It ran DOS software like previous PC's, but introduced a new "BUS", which was way faster than anything in production at the time. The high licensing fees by IBM caused it to falter and not enter the mainstream, and allow the PCI standard to take hold. The MCA bus PS/2 line was used widely in the commercial sector.
